Santa Ponsa

The very best place on the island to enjoy a spectacular sunset is Santa Ponsa, there are so many good restaurants overlooking the bay which will give you a terrific vantage point to do just that.

The gently curving beach is backed by an aromatic pinewood, which gives another dimension to the otherwise modern busy resort. Shops and restaurants abound in this area, and walking uptown with the beach on the left you will find another side to Santa Ponsa. Turn left at the roundabout and there are myriad discotheques and nightclubs turn to the right and a ten minute walk will take you to Es Castellot, a modern square where in the summer amidst the bars and shops there is free nightly family entertainment.

The Marina tucked away at the far end of Santa Ponsa is the home of many luxurious yachts; this haven of gentility also has two or three pleasant restaurants, and is a must if you wish to flee the madding crowd! Close by is the monument, a cross, which marks the spot where Jaime, the first king of Spain, landed in 1229.

There is plenty for the active visitor to enjoy, with a number of superb golf clubs in the area, also tennis, and many water sports.
